Actress, musician and quiz show co-host Alyce Platt is hoping for her own sale of the century after listing her Elwood home of 25 years.
The performer, who starred in Neighbours and Sons and Daughters, became a household name after appearing alongside Tony Barber in the popular Aussie game show.
More recently, she’s carved a career as a singer and songwriter, releasing several albums.

One of these, aptly entitled Bain Douche (French for bath-shower), was first recorded in the downstairs bathroom of the renovated Edwardian home that she’s just listed for $2.3m to $2.5m.
“The acoustics were so great in there and during Covid you were either making bread or learning songs by the band Bread, which is what I did,” Platt said.
“So I ended up creating all these recordings of songs that I had never played before and videoing myself and putting them up online and then I got a grant from the government to turn it into an album.”
It’s one of many fond memories the performer has of the eclectic three-bedroom house in Thackeray St, Elwood, a coveted bayside address less than a block from the foreshore.
Inspired by the gardens of landscape designer Edna Wallis, Platt has created a series of “outdoor rooms”.
The industrial chic custom kitchen features a Smeg oven and Bosch dishwasher.
The television star’s friends say the house feels like an oasis.
“At the end of my street is the beach and there is probably the most idyllic, most extraordinary place to watch the sunset and I’m a real sunset seeker,” she said.
“There is a chair in front of what’s now a beautiful dog park … and if you can’t find me I’ll often be down there – it’s a magical place.”
Platt extended the original cottage before moving in, adding a north-facing rear living zone with a custom kitchen, library and sunroom flowing out to a lush garden.
Upstairs, she installed an apartment-like retreat featuring its own balcony, ensuite and kitchenette.

Many of Platt’s celebrity friends including Barber and members of the Neighbours cast have enjoyed meals at the home.
The residence features a chandelier gifted to Platt by her friends, Hollywood stars and former couple Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.
However, the chandelier is not being sold with the house.
In 2024, Ms Furness stayed with Platt following her split from Jackman.
Platt reunited with former Sale of the Century host Tony Barber in 2005.
The front lounge has an open fireplace and leadlight windows.
When her mum Norma moved in back in 2017, she converted the flexible front bedroom into another living area to create an additional self-contained space.
The property’s dual street frontages allowed both generations to live independently.
“Mum had her own secluded private entrance area and we came in from the back off Pozieres Ave and we were together like that for ages,” Platt said.
“Then I did it as an accommodation place for Airbnb and it was incredibly successful.”
Platt describes the upper level as a pied-à-terre, a small secondary residence, with its own terrace.
Every room a the house has its own personality.
Jellis Craig Elwood listing agent Sam Gamon described the property as a “private oasis”.
“It has high appeal in the bayside market because it offers that beautiful front cover and a really flexible layout,” he said.
