WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that gives users better control over their storage, allowing them to view and delete large files directly from individual chats.
If you use WhatsApp regularly, your phone is likely filled with shared media that takes up a significant amount of space. To address this, the platform is now developing a feature designed to offer deeper control over WhatsApp storage, along with easier ways to remove large and unnecessary files.
According to details spotted by WaBetaInfo[1] in the latest beta version, WhatsApp is adding a new option to the info section of each chat that shows exactly how much storage a conversation occupies. The upcoming “Manage Storage” section displays a grid of all shared files, allowing users to sort them based on file size.
This update will let users closely manage each chat by reviewing images, videos and documents and deleting the ones they no longer need. Files can also be organized by the time they were shared, providing a clearer view of what is consuming storage space.
While the feature may seem simple, its placement within every chat’s settings makes it far more convenient. Although WhatsApp already includes a global Manage Storage option in Settings, having these tools accessible inside each conversation gives users quicker insight into what is filling up their device.
At the moment, the new option is available only to a limited group of iOS beta testers. However, WhatsApp is gradually expanding access and is expected to roll it out to more users in the coming weeks.
