Samsung publicly displayed its long-rumored tri-fold smartphone at the 2025 K-Tech Showcase, offering the first real-world look at the device though only through a glass case. While the prototype was not officially launched, it was featured prominently at the Samsung[1] booth. Attendees were not permitted to handle the device, which remains unnamed for now.
Images shared by South Korea’s ChosunMedia[2] reveal the tri-fold phone in both folded and fully unfolded configurations. The device uses two hinges to expand from a compact 6.5-inch form into a 10-inch tablet-style display when fully extended, which is very similar to the Huawei[3] Mate XT Ultimate in terms of display size.
Despite the attention it received at the showcase, Samsung has not disclosed any new technical specifications or features. However, earlier reports suggest the device will launch later this year under a placeholder name like Galaxy Z TriFold or Galaxy G Fold. The initial rollout will reportedly be very limited, with only about 50,000 units expected to be produced.
Rumored specifications include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a triple-camera setup, and an overall weight of approximately 298 grams. The phone is expected to be priced around $2,800 and will be released in select markets, including South Korea, the United States, China, and the UAE.
Samsung has not yet confirmed a launch date or finalized specs, but is expected to release more information in the coming months.
