Apple is reportedly preparing significant display upgrades across its iPad Air, iPad mini, and MacBook Air lineup,[1] according to a new Bloomberg report. The company is reportedly testing OLED displays for all three product families, marking a significant shift in Apple’s mid-range and ultraportable devices.
Bloomberg notes that the iPad mini could be the first to make the transition, with an OLED version expected to arrive in 2026.

The new model will reportedly feature a redesigned chassis with water resistance and improved speakers, bringing it closer to the iPad Pro’s premium experience. However, the upgrade may come at a cost; the OLED iPad mini could be priced around $100 higher than the current model.
The iPad Air is also on track to adopt OLED technology, though sources suggest[2] Apple will continue using LCD panels for the next release. Meanwhile, development on the OLED MacBook Air is underway, but its debut appears to be several years away, with a potential launch window around 2028.

If these timelines hold, Apple’s shift to OLED across its mainstream lineup could significantly enhance display quality, offering deeper blacks, better contrast, and improved battery efficiency. Still, it may also push prices higher across the board.
