Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will be fully prepared to secure Africa’s slot in the Intercontinental Play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Speaking on Wednesday, Gusau said the Nigerian spirit and determination that helped the team qualify for the play-offs would again inspire them to victory. He added that the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the NFF are working closely to ensure the team is well-prepared for their clash against Gabon on Thursday, 13th November, and the potential final against either Cameroon or DR Congo on Sunday, 16th November.

“Everything is being done by the NSC and the NFF to ensure proper preparation. No stone will be left unturned. The same fighting spirit that saw the team score four goals against Benin Republic on the final day of the qualifiers will push us to victory in the play-offs,” Gusau said.

He also confirmed that the Super Eagles’ training camp will open in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday, 9th November. “We are already in contact with the players, and everyone is focused. Every necessary arrangement is being made to ensure success, and the players are highly motivated by the dream of playing at the World Cup,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face the Panthers of Gabon at either the 18,000-capacity El Barid Stadium or the 22,000-capacity Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex, both in Rabat. The final of the play-offs will take place at the Stade Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan.

According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), a draw will be held on Thursday, 30th October, to decide which of the semi-final matches will be played at each venue.
