The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a strict crackdown on vehicles without valid green stickers, warning that all non-compliant cars will be seized starting November 15. The move is part of the province’s ongoing anti-smog and anti-pollution campaign, with enforcement teams already active across Lahore and other major cities.
With rising air pollution and deteriorating air quality in Lahore, the Punjab government has intensified its clean air initiatives. The green sticker system was introduced to certify vehicles that pass the Emission Testing System (ETS), ensuring they meet Punjab’s environmental standards.
According to Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of EPA Punjab:
“Any vehicle found on the road without an ETS certificate or green sticker after November 15 will be impounded. Only environmentally compliant vehicles will stay on the roads.”
He added that the EPA has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against smoke-emitting and noise-producing vehicles, with field teams already conducting roadside checks and issuing fines.
EPA Punjab clarified that vehicles passing the ETS test and certified electric or hybrid cars are exempted from the seizure drive. The agency is also coordinating with traffic police and district administrations to ensure uniform implementation across Punjab.
“We have started the strictest campaign against air pollution from Lahore,” Dr. Sheikh emphasized.
The initiative aims to curb smog levels ahead of winter, a period when Lahore and surrounding regions face severe air quality declines. Citizens are being urged to get their vehicles tested and obtain green stickers to avoid penalties.
