Apple is preparing to celebrate the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027 with a major redesign and powerful camera upgrades. The upcoming iPhone 20, expected to highlight the milestone year, is already shaping up to be one of Apple’s most ambitious devices yet.

Recent reports suggest[1] that the iPhone 20 lineup, particularly the Pro model, will feature a Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) camera sensor. This advanced sensor is designed to capture more light per pixel, resulting in improved dynamic range and richer image quality. The technology aims to deliver sharper details and enhanced performance, especially in challenging lighting conditions.

The phone’s design is also expected to take a bold turn. Apple[2] is rumored to introduce sloping display bezels that blend seamlessly with the screen, creating the illusion of a single piece of glass when viewed from the front. This change would mark one of the most significant design shifts in years.

Interestingly, Huawei has already deployed LOFIC sensors in its Pura 80 Ultra. Meanwhile, other top Chinese manufacturers, Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, Oppo, and Vivo, are also expected to adopt the same camera technology for their next-generation flagships.

In a separate leak, new details about the iPhone 18 Pro Max have emerged. According to a tipster, the 2026 flagship[3] will reportedly feature a variable aperture for its main camera, confirming earlier supply chain rumors. However, this feature is said to be exclusive to the larger 18 Pro Max model. The same report also mentions a wider fixed aperture for the device’s 48MP periscope lens, hinting at another major leap in Apple’s camera evolution.
