The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a cashless payment system at its One Window Facilitation Center, taking a major step toward making Islamabad Pakistan’s first fully cashless and digital city.

The initiative, introduced under the direction of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, aims to digitize all public transactions and enhance transparency in civic operations.

At the inauguration ceremony, the Chairman carried out a digital transaction himself to demonstrate the new system’s efficiency.

Senior CDA officials, including Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and the Director One Window, attended the event along with representatives from Bank Alfalah, Finnect, and other financial institutions.

Officials explained that the system integrates QR code-based payments through digital platforms such as EasyPaisa and JazzCash, allowing citizens to make payments instantly without using cash.

Randhawa said the project is aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming Islamabad into a modern, transparent, and efficient city, adding that it reflects the government’s focus on e-governance and digital transformation.

He noted that QR code-based cashless systems are already operational in Islamabad’s weekly bazaars and will soon be expanded to major commercial centers, markets, and retail hubs. The goal, he said, is to reduce cash handling, prevent fraud, and improve public convenience.

Randhawa announced that all civic services will soon be available under one roof through the upcoming “Assan Khidmat Markaz,” being established in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology. The center will provide professional, corporate-style service delivery to residents.

He emphasized that the CDA’s broader goal is to make Islamabad a fully digital and smart city where citizens can complete every transaction electronically, without carrying physical cash.
