Apple is reportedly planning major upgrades for its iPad Pro lineup in 2027, with significant improvements in performance and cooling technology. According to Mark Gurman[1], the next-generation iPad Pro will feature a vapor chamber system, a new Apple M6 chip, and enhanced efficiency for demanding tasks.

The addition of a vapor chamber would mark a first for Apple’s tablets[2]. This cooling solution is expected to keep the iPad Pro running cooler during heavy workloads such as gaming, video editing, and 3D rendering. It should also improve sustained performance without increasing device temperature.

Gurman reports that the upcoming iPad Pro will be powered by Apple’s new M6 SoC, built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. This next-gen chip is likely to deliver better performance and energy efficiency than the current M5 processor.

Apple only recently introduced the 2025 iPad Pro lineup, featuring 13-inch and 11-inch models powered by the M5 chip. These models also include the N1 wireless networking chip, Apple’s in-house C1X modem, 12GB of standard RAM, and faster charging support.

If Gurman’s report holds, the 2027 iPad Pro could be Apple’s most powerful and thermally efficient tablet yet, pushing the boundaries of mobile performance for creative professionals and power users.
