The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a temporary traffic diversion plan for Shaheen Chowk, Margalla Road, due to ongoing construction work. The plan will remain in effect daily from 4 pm to 7 pm to maintain smooth traffic flow during rush hours.

Shaheen Chowk is one of the busiest intersections in Islamabad, connecting key sectors such as E-11, F-10, and F-8. Construction work in the area has caused congestion and delays, prompting the ITP to introduce alternative routes for motorists.

Traffic Diversion Plan

According to an ITP spokesperson, the following diversions have been implemented:

Route Diversion/Alternative Path
From E-11 & DCI Road Use F-10 Service Road via Jinnah Avenue
From Ninth Avenue to Margalla Road Turn right from F-9 Park Gate 5 → F-8 Park Road
From Margalla Road to F-10 Turn left from Faisal Chowk → Jinnah Avenue or via PN Zafar Chowk (F-8, near Ali Medical Center) → Jinnah or Ninth Avenue

ITP officers have been deployed at major points to guide and assist motorists.

“We regret any inconvenience caused during this period,” said the ITP spokesperson. “Our teams are on-ground to ensure safety and prevent traffic jams.”

The spokesperson also urged citizens to contact Pucar-15 or 1915 for real-time traffic updates or emergencies, reaffirming ITP’s commitment to maintaining orderly and safe traffic movement in the capital.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow extra travel time during the evening peak hours. The construction work at Shaheen Chowk is part of Islamabad’s road infrastructure improvement project, expected to enhance connectivity along Margalla Road once completed.
