Sinner defends Six Kings Slam crown in Riyadh

Jannik Sinner moved into the semi-finals of the Vienna Open after a comfortable straight-sets victory over Alexander Bublik.

The Italian world number two broke Bublik’s serve once in each set to seal the win and keep his chase for a fourth title this year alive.

Sinner, a four-time Grand Slam champion, dropped only five points on serve throughout the match and will now face Australia’s Alex de Minaur for a place in the final.

The 24-year-old, who recently lost the world number one spot to Carlos Alcaraz after defeat in the US Open final, has now won 60 of his last 66 matches.

Although Bublik, ranked 16th in the world, beat Sinner earlier this year in Halle, he had no answer to the Italian’s power and precision on Friday.

Sinner dominated his service games, never losing more than one point in any of them, while converting two of his eight break chances to close out the match efficiently.

The Australian Open and Wimbledon champion is now on a 19-match winning streak on indoor hard courts and has won his last seven matches in Vienna, including his title run last year.

De Minaur reached the semi-finals after beating Italian Matteo Berrettini 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). It was his 53rd victory of the season — second only to world number one Carlos Alcaraz on the ATP Tour this year.

Elsewhere, German world number three Alexander Zverev advanced after Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor withdrew from their quarter-final.

That result confirmed Zverev as one of the first four players — alongside Alcaraz, Sinner and Novak Djokovic — to qualify for the season-ending ATP Finals in November.

Zverev will face either Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti or France’s Corentin Moutet in the other semi-final on Saturday.
