The Government of Punjab is set to introduce 28 electric buses in Gujrat by December 2025, expanding its eco-friendly public transport initiative under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The project aims to provide citizens with modern, clean, and sustainable transportation while reducing urban pollution and improving connectivity.
Gujrat Assistant Commissioner Bilal Zubair, along with officials from the Regional Transport Authority and Municipal Committee Jalalpur Jattan, inspected proposed routes and bus stop locations to review the city’s readiness for the upcoming service.
During the visit, Zubair instructed concerned departments to speed up construction work for bus stops and ensure all passenger facilities are ready before the launch. He stated,
“This project will deliver a modern and eco-friendly travel experience to the people of Gujrat, setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban transport.”
The initiative is part of Punjab’s broader green mobility plan, following successful electric bus rollouts in other major cities. It aligns with the province’s vision to promote clean energy solutions, reduce carbon emissions, and modernize public infrastructure.
