The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has initiated the search for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).

The board has announced the vacancy, inviting applications from dynamic and qualified professionals to lead the organization for a three-year contractual term.

As per the advertisement, the CEO will be responsible for executing PSEB’s ongoing initiatives and introducing new programs to accelerate the growth of Pakistan’s IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) industry.

According to the vacancy announcement, applicants must possess at least sixteen years of education in engineering, ICT, business administration, finance, marketing, or related disciplines from an HEC-accredited institution. A minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including five years in a senior leadership role, is required.

Candidates must also meet the “Fit and Proper” criteria under the State-Owned Enterprise (Governance and Operations) Act, 2023. The last date for submission of applications is November 4, 2025, and eligible candidates can apply online through the National Job Portal and Tech Destination websites.

The appointment process follows the resignation of PSEB’s CEO, Abu Bakar, who stepped down citing personal reasons. According to the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, today marks his last day in office. Abu Bakar was appointed in October last year after the position had remained vacant for nearly two years.

During his tenure, Abu Bakar focused on strengthening Pakistan’s IT export ecosystem and fostering collaboration between the government and private sector stakeholders. He was recognized for his efforts to expand Pakistan’s IT footprint internationally and improve coordination among technology exporters.
