Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, officially launched a new Information Technology (IT) program today under the government’s Digital Pakistan Vision. The initiative aims to drive digital transformation, strengthen Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, and empower youth with modern digital skills.

According to the PM’s Office, the program is designed to promote development based on advanced technology and build a strong digital economy. It seeks to position Pakistan as an emerging IT powerhouse in South Asia.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that digitalization is the foundation of a modern economy. The PM stated:

“Our goal is to make Pakistan a regional hub for IT innovation and digital entrepreneurship.”

The new IT program will provide training and opportunities in freelancing, e-commerce, and software development. Officials believe this step will create thousands of job opportunities for young professionals and graduates. A senior IT Ministry official said:

“This program will enable our youth to compete globally and contribute to the digital economy.”

The government has also prepared a comprehensive policy framework to ensure long-term support for the IT sector.

Federal ministers, IT experts, and startup representatives attended the launch event in Islamabad. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and tech-driven economic growth.

By encouraging investment and supporting startups, the government hopes to create a sustainable and inclusive digital ecosystem in Pakistan.
