Pakistan is preparing to restore direct flights to the United States as its aviation sector gains new momentum with clearance to operate flights to the United Kingdom.

Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that both Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and several private carriers have received approval to resume routes to Britain. He described the development as a major milestone for the country’s aviation industry, which has been working to regain international confidence.

“The approval of national and private airlines for Britain is a significant development,” Asif said while speaking to reporters. He announced that the first Islamabad-to-Manchester flight is scheduled to take off on October 25.

The minister noted that several private airlines are also exploring new routes to the UK. This expansion, he said, will boost Pakistan’s global connectivity and create more travel options for passengers through competitive fares.

Asif also revealed that talks are advancing to restart direct flights between Pakistan and the United States. Discussions with American aviation authorities, he added, have been encouraging, raising hopes for further approvals in the near future.

“Hopefully, permission will be granted soon,” Asif remarked, expressing optimism that Pakistan’s upgraded safety and compliance measures will open the door to more international destinations.

He emphasized that the government has resolved key regulatory issues and aligned Pakistani airlines with global aviation standards, setting the stage for broader international operations.
