Another senior officer of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency[1] has been abducted, this time from Islamabad. The incident marks the latest in a growing wave of mysterious disappearances involving NCCIA officials[2] across multiple cities.
Deputy Director Usman Abducted from Apartment Parking
Usman, who served as Deputy Director and Additional Director at NCCIA, was reportedly abducted from the parking lot of his apartment building in Islamabad. He also held additional key positions as PSO to the DG NCCIA and Director Operations.
His wife has filed an FIR against unknown kidnappers. The FIR also states that:
“Usman was working on some sensitive cases.”
Pattern of Disappearances Across Cities
Usman is currently the only officer abducted from Islamabad. However, sources confirm that around six officers from NCCIA Lahore and one Deputy Director from Gujranwala have also been kidnapped in recent weeks.
According to an NCCIA insider, these abductions are linked to internal investigations on organizational affairs, including inquiries into YouTubers, raids on illegal call centers, and other sensitive cases.
Pressure Over Betting App Crackdown
Over the past two months, more than a dozen social media influencers have received NCCIA notices for allegedly promoting illegal betting apps. However, the only major arrest so far has been that of Ducky Bhai (Saad-ur-Rehman).
This selective enforcement has raised serious questions regarding NCCIA’s performance and internal decision-making.
Possible Restructuring and Promotions Under Scrutiny
Inquiries regarding promotions of NCCIA employees to director-level positions are expected soon. Sources also indicate that large-scale organizational restructuring may be on the horizon, further intensifying the agency’s internal pressure.
