The Punjab Education Department has issued a new set of strict security measures for all public and private schools across the province, aiming to strengthen campus safety and prevent any potential threats.
School administrations have been directed to keep all CCTV cameras active around the clock. Metal detectors must also be installed at entry points and operated properly by trained staff.
In addition to these technological requirements, daily bag inspections are now mandatory to ensure that no prohibited or suspicious items enter school premises. Teachers and staff have also been told to raise security awareness among students, encouraging vigilance and regular discussions on safety protocols during meetings and classes.
The department has instructed school heads to set up a clear reporting system for any unusual activity. Such incidents must be immediately reported to local police and district education officials. Moreover, schools are required to conduct regular emergency drills and refresh their safety plans.
Officials said the new directives are part of a province-wide initiative to safeguard students, teachers, and staff at every educational institution in Punjab.
