Liverpool legend Michael Owen has shared his thoughts on Alex Iwobi

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has made history by becoming the Nigerian player with the most appearances in the Premier League.

Iwobi started in Fulham’s 1-0 loss to his former club Arsenal on Saturday. Despite the defeat, the Super Eagles star reached a new milestone.

According to the Premier League’s official website, Iwobi now has 299 Premier League appearances, breaking the record previously held by former Nigerian player Shola Ameobi, who played 298 games.

Iwobi has also passed other Nigerian greats such as Kanu Nwankwo (273 appearances), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252), and John Mikel Obi (249).

He will look to make his 300th Premier League appearance when Fulham travel to Newcastle next weekend.

Recently, Iwobi helped the Super Eagles secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs during the international break.
