Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has said that some Ivory Coast football fans often criticise him because of his support for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh has tipped Victor Osimhen for a big-money move to the English Premier League.

Osimhen, who recently signed with Turkish club Galatasaray in a record-breaking deal, impressed fans with his standout performance in Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Benin in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The striker scored a hat-trick, helping the Super Eagles reach the African playoffs.

Speaking on his podcast, Oliseh praised the 26-year-old striker’s work rate, skills, and passion for the game.

“If Osimhen plays the next three or four games like he did against Benin, I can assure you that in the next one or two years, he’ll be heading to the Premier League,” Oliseh said.

“And they will buy him for crazy money.”

The former Super Eagles captain added that, despite Ademola Lookman currently being rated higher due to his African Player of the Year title, Osimhen is still Nigeria’s best player in terms of overall quality.

“He is the best player we have at the moment,” Oliseh continued. “The way he played this weekend showed his hunger and fight. This is the kind of match that suits him.”

Osimhen has now scored six goals in six World Cup qualifying matches for Nigeria, cementing his place as one of the country’s most important players.
