In a major step toward cleaner transportation, Attock Petroleum Limited has signed an MoU with Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. and AE Power to jointly develop a nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The agreement, signed at Huawei’s Islamabad office, focuses on promoting electric mobility and sustainable energy use in Pakistan.
The collaboration aims to strengthen the country’s EV infrastructure, aligning with Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy (2025–2030), which targets 10,000 charging stations by 2030 and offers tariff reductions of up to 44% to encourage private investment.
Pakistan’s EV market has been gaining traction, with over 3,800 investors showing interest and more than 70 licenses already issued for charging stations. Punjab and Sindh have launched major initiatives, including 2,000 proposed charging stations and the introduction of 600 electric buses in Punjab, while Sindh plans to install chargers every 50 kilometers along major routes.
Highlighting the importance of this collaboration, an Attock Petroleum spokesperson said,
“Our partnership with Huawei and AE Power will accelerate the shift toward electric mobility and support Pakistan’s clean energy vision.”
Recently, Islamabad witnessed the launch of the fastest 120 kW EV charging station, capable of powering a vehicle in under an hour a sign of how rapidly Pakistan’s EV ecosystem is evolving.
