Realme is gearing up to launch the GT 8 series in China next week, marking a major step forward for the brand’s camera innovation. The lineup will be the first from Realme,[1] to feature custom Ricoh Imaging tuning, promising enhanced photo quality and color accuracy straight out of the box.
One of the standout features is the modular camera housing, which can be swapped out using two Torx screws and a magnetic attachment system. This design allows users to easily change the camera deco between square, round, and robot style modules, each available in different materials and colors.
According to the leak,[2] it’s still unclear whether Realme plans to open this system to third-party designers or keep production in-house. Either way, the modular concept hints at improved repairability and personalization, which could set a new trend in smartphone design.
Beyond the camera, Realme confirmed that the GT 8 Pro will feature a paper-like recycled leather back. The material is extremely thin at just 0.02mm, yet it’s said to be wear- and corrosion-resistant, blending sustainability with a premium look and feel.
