Motorola has joined the race for ultra-thin smartphones with its new Moto X70 Air, a mid-range device measuring just under 6mm in thickness and weighing 159 grams. This puts the X70 Air nearly on par with the likes of the iPhone Air, Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, and the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ in terms of slimness and lightweight design.
However, despite being a slim phone, the X70 Air has an actual vapor chamber, a bigger battery, and more cameras than the iPhone Air.
Design and Display
The Moto X70 Air is built around a 6.7-inch flat OLED panel with a 1220p+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen can reach a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, making it one of the brightest displays in its class., The phone features an under-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
Despite the ultra-thin design, Motorola has reinforced the phone’s metal frame to withstand accidental drops from multiple angles. The device is certified with both IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it is fully protected against dust, submersion in water, and even high-pressure, high-temperature water jets.
Color options include Gadget Gray, Lily Pad, and Bronze Green. Each finish comes with accent colors for the camera rings and power button, as shown in the images below.
Internals and Software
The Moto X70 Air uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB of UFS 3.1, but the device does not have a microSD card slot. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack either. Motorola includes a 3D vapor chamber for thermal management during heavy use, which should be helpful for gaming, extended video recording, and more.
Cameras
The phone features a dual-camera setup on the rear, led by a 50MP main camera with a Samsung[1] sensor. Next to it is a 50MP ultra-wide camera offering a 120-degree field of view. The front camera also offers 50MP resolution, ensuring high detail for selfies and video calls.
This is one more back camera than the iPhone 17 Air and a much higher resolution selfie camera as well.
Battery and Pricing
A 4,800 mAh battery powers the Moto X70 Air, compared to Apple’s 3149 mAh unit, which needs an extra battery attachment to last a full day. This capacity also surpasses other premium competitors, including the Galaxy S25 Edge, which offers a 3,900 mAh battery.
Fast charging is supported up to 68W via wired connection, while 15W wireless charging is also available.
The Moto X70 Air is listed on Lenovo’s official Chinese website. Pricing details have not yet been published, but a global release is expected in the near future. International markets may see the device under the name Motorola Edge 70.
Either way, given the phone’s mid-range specifications, the Moto X70 Air is most likely going to cost half the price of a Galaxy S25 Edge or the iPhone Air.
