Eric Trump has offered a rare insight into the world’s most famous home – the Trump family’s Florida compound Mar-a-Lago.

Portugese for ‘see the lake’ Mar-a-Lago has become the most talked about residence over the past few years. First during Donald Trump’s initial term in the White House, then during his time away from the US presidency including the infamous 2022 FBI raid and now into the second term of the 47th president.

Donald Trump’s third child Eric took Fox News on a tour of the palatial residence and spoke of growing up in the massive home and the incredible times he and his siblings had there.

“It’s got the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the famous intercoastal waterway on the other,” Eric Trump explained.

“It’s the most prestigious property anywhere in the world. We have had it in the family for a very long time and we are very proud of it.”

Sitting on 17 acres and composed of 126 rooms, Mar-a-Lago was built on a barrier island in Florida in 1924 for Marjorie Merriweather Post, the wealthiest wowan in the US, considered Wall St Royalty, at the time and whose family made its fortune from cereals and then other foodstuffs.

Donald Trump bought the residence in 1985 and founded the Mar-a-Lago Club, probably the world’s most elite club, 10 years later.

The outside of the home has been captured many times, including in the FBI raid during Joe Biden’s presidency, however much of the interior of the residence hasn’t been seen to the general public until now.

Eric Trump started the tour in the patio area, that is very popular year round and where Donald Trump often DJs during events.

Much of the interiors are hand-carved.

“My father loves DJing, in two weeks when this club opens up, this place will be rocking,” Eric Trump said.

The TV tour then moved into the lobby which was described as “one of the most stunning rooms in America”.

“You can’t build like this anymore, you can’t replicated this ever again, it’s all hand carved, it really is an amazing property,” Eric Trump said.

“We have renovated every inch of the property.”

Next came “the famous Mar-a-Lago bar, where Donald Trump, Elon Musk and others put together much of the Trump administration after he was voted in as President.

“There were in there for countless days, a lot of special memories in that room,” Eric Trump said.

It was then into the drawing room, which boasts mementos that date back to the 1400s.

“It is all imported tile from Europe that dates back to a long time ago, she (Post) wanted the best there was.

The walk through of Mar-a-Lago ended at the front of the home, where Eric Trump pointed out the 25m high tower, he and his siblings played in where they were kids, the generous lawns and the front gate, pictures of which were beamed across the world when it was raided by the FBI.

“It’s one of the most famous entrances in the world,” Eric Trump said.

“And as kids we loved going up and playing in that tower.”

The home also doubles as a private club.

“Welcome to the Mar-a-Lago Club, one of the most highly regarded private clubs in the world,” it’s advertising reads.

“Since purchasing this landmark in 1985, the Trump family has spent many weekends and holidays at their home away from home.

“When Donald J. Trump founded the club in 1995, he kept private quarters and all of the elegance that surrounds the property. A five-minute drive away is the world-renowned Trump International Golf Club, West Palm Beach, a highly-acclaimed golf course.”
