Oppo has officially unveiled ColorOS 16, introducing a refreshed design language, performance upgrades, and a wide range of new AI-powered tools. The updated interface will debut tomorrow on the Oppo Find X9 series and gradually roll out to older Oppo devices[1] in the coming months.
The new version focuses heavily on speed and fluidity. Oppo’s updated Luminous Rendering Engine delivers smoother transitions across apps, menus, and widgets, ensuring consistent performance even under heavy multitasking.
Complementing it is the Trinity Engine, which optimizes system resources at the chip level, improving multitasking responsiveness, managing power efficiency, and reducing CPU strain. According to Oppo, app launches are now 28% faster, loading times have dropped by 21%, and overall CPU load is reduced by up to 14% during daily use.
On the visual side, ColorOS 16 draws inspiration from nature, particularly the play of light and shadow. The lockscreen now supports motion photos and video wallpapers, while users can customize their experience with new fonts and a full-screen Always-On Display.
The redesigned Flux Home Screen allows users to resize apps and folders into multiple shapes, wide, tall, or large, while the surrounding UI dynamically adjusts. Oppo’s Live Alerts have also expanded to support more apps, showing contextual information around the selfie camera cutout.
Oppo is further enhancing its AI suite, adding tools like AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover for photos, along with AI Portrait Glow, which enhances low-light portraits by refining lighting and skin tones.
For productivity, O+ Connect now offers improved notification sync, faster file transfers, and better device management across Mac and Windows PCs.
ColorOS 16 will start rolling out in China from October 30, 2025, with the Find X8 series[2], Find N5 and Chinese OnePlus 13 and 13T among the first to receive it. According to the leaks[3], the Find X9 series will ship with the new software pre-installed.
