Lionel Messi has broken another major record, showing once again why he is one of the greatest footballers of all time — even at 38 years old.

Messi made two assists in Argentina’s 6-0 friendly win over Puerto Rico, bringing his total to 60 international assists. This means he has now passed Neymar to become the top assist provider in international football history.

Messi Shines in Big Win

The match was played at Chase Stadium, and Messi played the full 90 minutes after missing Argentina’s last game against Venezuela.

He made his 60th assist with a clever chip to set up Gonzalo Montiel. Later, he produced a brilliant back-heel pass to assist Lautaro Martinez for another goal.

Argentina’s other goals came from Alexis Mac Allister (two goals), Martinez (two goals), and a Puerto Rico own goal by Steven Echevarria.

Still Breaking Records

Messi’s two assists bring him closer to another milestone. He now has 398 career assists, just two away from reaching 400 across club and international matches.

So far, Messi has:

  • 114 international goals (2nd all-time, behind Cristiano Ronaldo with 143)

  • 60 international assists (1st all-time)

  • 26 goals and 15 assists this season with Inter Miami

  • 68 goals and 31 assists in 81 games for Inter Miami since joining the club

Age is Just a Number

Even at 38, Messi continues to perform at the highest level, impressing fans across the world. His creativity, passing, and vision remain top class, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
