In welcome news for consumers, petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to decline for the next 15 days, starting October 16, 2025. According to reports from a private TV channel, the government may announce a reduction in fuel prices after reviewing the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) recommendations.

The expected price revision follows recent global oil market fluctuations and a stable Pakistani rupee. The petroleum industry has finalized its calculations and forwarded them to OGRA, which will send a detailed summary to the Ministry of Finance for approval later today.

As per initial estimates, petrol prices could fall by Rs 6.10 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may see a Rs 0.97 per litre cut. Prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) are also expected to decrease slightly. The Ministry of Finance, after consulting the Prime Minister, will give the final approval for implementation tomorrow.

“The petroleum division has sent its recommendation to OGRA, and price changes will be finalized after approval from the finance ministry,” said an official source.

If approved, the new rates will take effect from October 16, providing temporary relief to transporters and consumers amid rising inflation concerns.

OGRA’s summary will reach the Finance Ministry by tonight, and the official notification will be issued after the Prime Minister’s consultation tomorrow.
