ISLAMABAD: Educational activity across Islamabad and Rawalpindi faced major disruption on Sunday as confusion prevailed over educational institution operations.

Some institutions announced online classes, others remaining physically open, and several opting to stay closed altogether. The uncertainty followed renewed sealing of multiple routes between the twin cities early in the morning, causing severe traffic congestion and restricting movement of students and staff.

According to reports, containers were placed once again at key junctions including Faizabad, Murree Road, and Zero Point, while entry points from Rawalpindi to Islamabad were partially blocked, leading to long queues of vehicles. Parents and teachers were left frustrated as there was no clear directive from authorities regarding educational institutions’ closures.

Many private schools, colleges and universities switched to online classes at the last minute, citing safety and commuting concerns. Others decided to remain open physically, though attendance remained thin as transport routes were sealed. Meanwhile, several institutions declared an off-day, advising students to stay home until further notice.
