Australian model Alanna Pow

Ex-flight attendant Alanna Pow, 22, was initially unfazed about going abroad to Turkey for her surgeries, but she was left ‘butchered’ and unable to sit down for weeks

A model who endured two botched Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs)[1] in Turkey finally has the results she wanted after going under the knife[2] for a third time – to the tune of £43,000.

At first, ex-flight attendant Alanna Pow was unfazed about undergoing bargain surgeries abroad[3]. But the recovery was so brutal that the 22-year-old was left unable to sit down for weeks.

She claims her bottom and thighs were “butchered” by her first doctor and the second one was no better. Left £18,000 out of pocket and exhausted after taking two 6,500-mile trips, Alanna decided Turkey was no longer worth the risk.

The Australian model underwent her third and hopefully final BBL last month back home and is now warning others not to fall for discount surgery deals abroad.

“I wouldn’t recommend Turkey – I feel like I’ve been botched,” said Alanna, who boasts over three million Instagram[6] followers. “The first doctor took too much fat from my lower thighs and left them wavy, which made me feel insecure every day. He butchered my thighs.

“I only went to that clinic because I had seen another influencer go there, and it was ridiculously easy to book. Within a month, I was under the knife.”

Alanna claims the second Turkey clinic even threw in a nose job as part of the BBL deal to entice her further. But while the rhinoplasty healed perfectly, the butt operations left lasting damage.

She said: “In Turkey, I stayed in a hospital for three nights with round-the-clock nurses and IV drips. Everything was done for me. In Australia[7], it was completely different.

“It was a one-day surgery – they sent me home just two hours later with only oral painkillers. I had drains both times but in Turkey, they were closed and managed by staff. In Australia, they were open, so I was leaking constantly. It was one of the worst parts of the recovery – it felt endless and messy.” Alanna, who lives in Bali, says doctors wouldn’t allow her to fly for two weeks following the operation.

She said: “The Australian surgeon insisted that I book a business class seat so that I could lie flat and not put too much pressure on my butt. He also makes all his patients get daily lymphatic massages for six weeks – £120 each – which adds thousands on top of the surgery cost. In Turkey, they just told me to get two massages a week after the first fortnight.”

Despite shelling out the equivalent of a house deposit on her behind, Alanna says the most recent results are worth every penny. She said: “He fixed my legs, made my hips wider and my waist smaller. The results speak for themselves.

“In Australia, they use Vaser liposuction, which tightens the skin, whereas my doctor in Turkey definitely didn’t do that. I can finally see the difference and I’m so happy. I tell everyone now – don’t go to Turkey, just save up and do it properly.”

Despite the hefty price tag and strict recovery, Alanna finally feels confident in her own skin. The model doesn’t regret her journey but wishes she’d avoided Turkey altogether.

She added: “It’s so much easier to book abroad – but that’s the problem. In Australia, you have to jump through hoops, answer mental health questions and even have a cooling-off period. It’s stricter but it means you get the right results.”
