German special forces[1] have been deployed after an attack alert was triggered at a school in Germany.
The incident[2] happened at Westfalenkolleg, a vocational school in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia.
According to local reports, one person has been left with serious, and possibly life-threatening, injuries.[3] The suspect has been arrested and taken into police custody.

Suspect, 25, fled scene before turning himself in to cops
Police said the suspect fled the scene after a female student was stabbed in the school’s gym.
A search was launched before the suspect ended up contacting cops and turned himself in.
“During the ongoing search, the fugitive suspect contacted the police control center and was provisionally arrested around 2 p.m. in the area of Lake Padersee,” police said.
It’s understood the suspect is a 25-year-old local with German citizenship.
The motivation behind the attack is currently unknown.
Alarm was raised after a female student was stabbed in the gym by male suspect
In their statement, police added their control centre received a call at 1.15pm about a female student being stabbed in the gym by a male suspect.
further stated that the control center in Paderborn was informed around 1:15 p.m. that a female student had been stabbed in the gym by a man.
The school is understood to have triggered the “rampage alarm” – which calls police to the scene in the event of a shooting or knife rampage.

In a statement, Biefield Police said a student suffered serious injuries in a knife attack.
The student suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently undergoing emergency surgery,” a spokesperson said.
