HMD has unveiled a new mobile device that sits between a smartphone and a traditional feature phone. Called the HMD Touch 4G, the device blends basic phone functionality with limited smart capabilities through cloud-hosted apps, making it a modern take on the classic Nokia[1] Asha series.

The Touch 4G runs on a custom lightweight real-time operating system (RTOS) known as RTOS Touch. The system allows users to access cloud-based apps via the Cloud Phone service, enabling light versions of popular web apps without heavy processing demands.

The phone includes Express Chat, an integrated messaging platform that supports text, voice, and image sharing. It also allows users to chat with those on Android and iOS, as long as the app is installed on both sides. The HMD Touch 4G is available in Cyan and Dark Blue colors.

In terms of hardware, the Touch 4G features a 3.2-inch LCD with a 320×240-pixel (QVGA) resolution, a 2MP rear camera with an LED flash, and a 0.3MP front camera. Powering the device is a Unisoc T127 chipset paired with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.

The device packs a 1,950 mAh battery that charges via USB-C, offering longer standby time than most smartphones in this category. Other features include IP52 dust and splash resistance, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi (802.11n), and mobile hotspot capability.

The HMD Touch 4G is priced at approximately $45.
