Fortnite is cranking up the horror this Halloween with Fortnitemares 2025, and leaked content suggests the crossover lineup is bigger and darker than ever. Ghostface, REPO!, Scooby Doo, and more horror icons are rumored to join the event.
Launch Date & Phased Rollout
According to Esports.gg, the Fortnitemares event is expected to kick off October 9, 2025, with downtime preceding the update.
There is also speculation that it may launch in phases as the K-Pop Demon Hunters[1] collab with Netflix began earlier around October 2, before the Halloween content. There might even be two updates as one is already live adding K-Pop content, and a second update will bring crossover horror skins to Battle Royale at 3 PM Pakistan Standard Time or 6 AM ET.
Leaks also suggest a massive roster of new skins. In addition to Ghostface and REPO!, Art the Clown from Terrifier, Jason Voorhees, and others like The Grabber from The Black Phone and Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime[2] are expected.
Furthermore, a HotSpawn leak states the Ghostface Fortnite skin is expected to drop shortly after Fortnitemares begins, possibly in the first wave of content.
What to Expect from the Crossover
If past events are any guide, crossovers will bring themed skins, emotes, gliders, medallions, and possibly limited time modes or quests tied into horror lore. Ghostface may get mask themed gear, and Scooby Doo could arrive with Mystery Machine aesthetics. Victory Medallions featuring Ghostface and Jason are also reportedly in the works.
We can also expect new maps or haunted map variants, ghost effects, questlines, and horror themed spawns. There’s also a chance that Leatherface’s rideable Chainsaw item could return, and Jason medallions may appear.
Since its debut in 2017, Fortnite’s Fortnitemares has evolved from simple Halloween skins into a global pop culture spectacle. Early events focused on spooky map makeovers and PvE modes, while later years brought iconic horror crossovers like Ghostbusters, Halloween, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. By 2024, the event fully merged with in-game storylines, featuring boss fights, quests, and atmospheric effects.
Today, Fortnitemares is a seasonal tentpole blending nostalgia, horror, and blockbuster collaborations.
