In response to growing concerns over the heavy academic load on students, especially those in Grade 9, the Punjab government has announced plans to reduce and realign the syllabus for Matric and other classes. The move aims to make the curriculum more balanced and student-friendly.
According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, the decision comes after consultations with curriculum experts and senior teachers who are currently reviewing subjects to lessen unnecessary content.
He said,
“We are aware of the extra load on students of Grade 9 and other grades. Curriculum experts and top teachers are working on reducing and realigning the curriculum.”
While the minister did not specify the timeline or scope of the changes, education professionals have been directed to ensure that the revised syllabus maintains academic quality while easing pressure on students.
This development reflects the government’s continued efforts to improve the learning environment and student well-being across Punjab’s education system.
