In a major step to promote transparency and protect consumers in the power sector, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and NADRA Technologies Limited have signed an agreement to introduce biometric verification for all new electricity connections and reconnections.
The agreement was signed at IESCO’s Head Office by Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, CEO of IESCO, and Umar Khan Azad, CEO of NADRA Technologies Limited. The initiative aligns with the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy’s policy to enhance consumer convenience and digitalise public services.
Under the new system, biometric verification will be required to confirm applicants’ identities before new electricity connections or reconnections are approved. This step aims to ensure secure, transparent, and fraud-free electricity services across the IESCO network.
Officials said the biometric verification system will help eliminate fraudulent connections, improve accountability, and streamline the overall service delivery process.
During the signing ceremony, IESCO CEO Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood highlighted the importance of modernising the electricity infrastructure. He said the partnership with NADRA Technologies will boost operational efficiency and reinforce public trust in IESCO’s services.
