‘Florida’s crime rate is at an all-time low and under the direction of AG Uthmeier the protection of our citizens will be the top priority.’

Attorney General James Uthmeier is racking up endorsements as his campaign for a full term revs up, with the latest bundle coming from 51 of the state’s 67 county Sheriffs.

“Florida’s Attorney General James Uthmeier has not only earned my endorsement but also the endorsement of Sheriffs across the state of Florida because of his tough-on-crime approach to law and order,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

“Like me, Attorney General Uthmeier recognizes that crime will rise to the level a community will tolerate, and in Florida, we have zero tolerance for crime. Florida’s crime rate is at an all-time low, and under the direction of AG Uthmeier, the protection of our citizens will be the top priority.”

Uthmeier added, “Florida’s Sheriffs are the best in the nation, and it’s not even close. They are the boots on the ground in our communities enacting the law & order policies we champion at the state level. I am honored to have their endorsements, and I will do them and the people of Florida proud in our fight to keep Florida safe, strong, and free.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Uthmeier Attorney General earlier this year following now-U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody’s exit. Uthmeier is the lone major Republican in the race, and following the bulk endorsement, only 16 Sheriffs remain on the board should a Primary challenger materialize.

Uthmeier’s likely General Election opponent, former Sen. José Javier Rodríguez, likely won’t grab any beyond the few elected Democratic county Sheriffs in the state.

The Sheriff endorsements come on the heels of the Republican Attorneys General Association’s announcement that it was putting its weight — and money — behind Uthmeier’s campaign.
