Google’s next flagship lineup may finally make the long-rumored switch to a MediaTek modem. Back in December 2024, reports suggested that the Pixel 10 series[1] would feature MediaTek hardware, but that never happened. Instead, Google stuck with Samsung’s Exynos modem for another year.

Now, new leaks indicate that the upcoming Pixel 11 could change that. According to early rumors[2], Google plans to pair the MediaTek M90 modem with its in-house Tensor G6 chipset. The shift, if confirmed, would mark Google’s first move away from Samsung’s connectivity tech.

If the Pixel 11 lineup does adopt the M90, it could offer a significant leap in connectivity performance. The modem, unveiled in February, supports up to 12Gbps peak download speeds and complies with 3GPP Release 17 and 18 standards. It also includes sub-6GHz 5G, mmWave support, and dual SIM dual-active (DSDA) functionality for simultaneous data use.

Another standout feature is satellite connectivity, making the M90 one of the most versatile modems on the market. Combined with Google’s Tensor G6, the Pixel 11 could deliver faster, more stable connections than its predecessors.
