Alex Iwobi has set a new record for Nigerian players in the Premier League, beating other famous Super Eagles stars.

Iwobi, who plays for Fulham,[1] is now second on the list for the most Premier League games played by a Nigerian.

He has been in the Premier League since he was young, starting in Arsenal’s academy. Since then, he has become a top player.

Iwobi has played for Arsenal, Everton, and now Fulham, where he is one of the key players.

Iwobi’s new record

Iwobi has gone past well-known Nigerian players like Jay-Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, and Mikel Obi.

According to Soar Super Eagles on X (formerly Twitter), “Last night, Alex Iwobi matched Shola Ameobi’s record for the most Premier League appearances by a Nigerian. A veteran at 29!”

Iwobi now has 298 Premier League games, the same as Ameobi.

Kanu is third with 273 games, Aiyegbeni Yakubu is fourth with 252, and Mikel Obi is fifth with 249.

Iwobi played in Fulham’s 3-1 loss to Bournemouth on Friday night, which gave him the chance to reach this record.

He will break the record in Fulham’s next game against his old club, Arsenal.

Iwobi has played 85 games for Fulham so far, scoring 16 goals and making 10 assists.
