Samsung’s flagship lineup for 2026 may not look as different as once expected. While earlier reports suggested the company would drop its “Plus” model in favor of the new Edge variant, fresh industry reports from South Korea indicate that the Galaxy S26+ could still make it to market.
According to multiple sources in Samsung’s home market, sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge have been underwhelming since its release earlier this year. Production levels reportedly “plummeted” in June, only a month after launch. This decline is unusual, as most smartphones see their strongest sales within the first three months of release.
Why Samsung[1] May Change Course
Forecasts suggest that the Galaxy S25+ continues to outsell the newer Galaxy S25 Edge, despite the latter being priced slightly higher. Analysts believe Samsung may risk losing revenue if it fully replaces the Plus model with the Edge variant, given the stronger consumer demand for the traditional model.
If Samsung proceeds with the change, the Galaxy S26 lineup could include the Galaxy S26+, Galaxy S26 Pro, and Galaxy S26 Ultra along with the Edge, reversing earlier speculation that the Edge would permanently replace the Plus.
The company has yet to confirm its final plans for next year’s flagship release, but the disappointing performance of the Edge model could push Samsung to keep the Plus in its portfolio after all.
