The Punjab government has officially ended the facility of free vehicle emission testing, making it mandatory for vehicle owners to pay a fixed fee based on engine category. This decision aims to strengthen environmental regulations and improve compliance with pollution control standards across the province.

According to the notification issued by the Environment Protection Department, motorcycles will now be charged Rs. 100, while rickshaw owners will pay Rs. 300. Car owners will face charges depending on engine capacity, ranging from Rs. 500 for vehicles up to 1000cc to Rs. 2,000 for cars above 4500cc.

Vehicle Type Fee (PKR)
Motorcycles 100
Rickshaws 300
Cars up to 1000cc 500
Cars up to 1500cc 800
Cars up to 2500cc 1000
Cars up to 4500cc 1500
Above 4500cc capacity 2000

“All fees will be deposited directly into the EPA account at the time of testing,” the department clarified.

This move marks a shift from free public services to a structured fee-based system, aligning with the government’s efforts to ensure stricter vehicle emission monitoring in Punjab.
