Aries Spears’ Interview With VladTV refers to a series of memes[1] using clips from a viral interview with comedian Aries Spears on the djvlad, or VladTV, YouTube[2] channel. The interview was uploaded in June 2025 and went viral on TikTok[3] in late September 2025. In particular, a clip from the interview in which, while discussing Kanye’s song “COUSINS[4],” Spears debates with the interviewer about whether or not scrolling past gay porn while searching for a video on a porn site makes you gay, with Spears claiming that it does. The video inspired numerous reuploads, clips and exploitable[5] edits that change the context of the scene, including an edit that turns Spears into a pirate and another that turns him into a Greek philosopher.
Origin
On June 3rd, 2025, YouTuber djvlad uploaded an interview with comedian Aries Spears, garnering over 410,000 views in four months.
At the 34:30 timestamp, the interviewer and Spears begin discussing Kanye West allegedly saying “I’m gay” during a stream. The interviewer alleges that some male artists signed to Kanye were asked to give him oral sex in exchange for fame. The interviewer says people excuse Kanye because of trauma, as he was purportedly forced to give oral sex to his cousin[6] as a kid. The interviewer then says he started watching porn at 14, and it never made him “want to suck a dick.”
Spears asks why porn would ever make someone want to perform gay acts. Spears, confused, argues that watching gay porn might make you want to be gay, but straight porn would not. The interviewer says he’s seen gay and trans porn thumbnails while scrolling porn sites looking for straight videos, but it has never influenced him to turn gay. Spears continues to push the interviewer, saying, “I ain’t never got caught up in a gay ‘vortrex’ of porn.”
The interviewer makes his claim clear, saying, “If you watch gay porn, it doesn’t make you want to do gay shit.” Spears makes him repeat himself, saying, “Say that again.” After he explains himself again, Spears points at him and says, “This n***a’s a homosexual.” Spears makes him say it a third time and then exclaims, “But why you watching it?” and that “scroll and watch are two different things.” Spears continues to argue.

In September 2025, clips from Spears’ VladTV interview and other interviews started going viral. Some TikTokers began editing the clips to alter the context.
For example, on September 24th, 2025, TikToker @cryingobiyt posted an edit of the “gay vortrex” debate in which Spears and the interviewer talk and act like pirates, garnering over 730,000 views in a week.

On September 28th, TikToker @.shraye uploaded an edit where Spears and the interviewer are depicted as ancient Greek philosophers having a debate, garnering over 3.8 million views in four days.
