DocShoddy Smash Or Pass is an event hosted by X / Twitter user @DocShoddy where he posts one original, “tasteful” lewd piece of Super Mario Bros.[1] enemy fan art[2] drawn in Nintendo’s official art style to X every day between October 1st and the 30th, 2025. DocShoddy announced the event in late September 2025 as retaliation against Nintendo for failing to respond to two demands he’d made to the company: “Make Mario and Peach more than friends[3],” and “Bring back ‘Atomic Purple,'” referring to a purple, transparent color variant for the Gameboy Color. Word of the event began to spread in early October 2025 following its announcement, including through reposts to the /r/Mario subreddit.

DocShoddy’s Demands to Nintendo
On September 29th, 2025, X user @DocShoddy posted a piece of flirtatious fan art of a Koopa, writing, “I learned how to draw in the Mario official art style. Nintendo better follow my demands or else I’ll not be held responsible for the evil that will be unleashed.” The post gained over 142,000 likes in two days.
In a comment, Shoddy made their demands, writing, “I have two demands. 1) Make Mario and Peach more than friends 2) Bring back “Atomic Purple” They have 23 hours to respond.”
Smash or Pass Announcement
On September 30th, 2025, Shoddy made a post on X announcing “Smash or Pass,” claiming they will post one piece of “spicy” artwork of a Super Mario Bros. enemy every day in October, garnering over 30,000 likes in a day.
As a comment, Shoddy posted a teaser on X for the first enemy in the series as a silhouette, appearing to be some kind of Goomba. In the post Shoddy writes, “Everyone is free to comment whether they will SMASH or PASS this enemy. These drawings will be tasteful, as I’m not looking to get whacked.”
