
Legendary primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace and Founder Jane Goodall has died aged 91.
A tireless advocate’ for the protection of our natural world, she decided her life to the animals and worked on ground-breaking studies for almost 70 years. She passed away while on tour in California, it has been announced.
She was on a stage in New York city just a week before her death with her website stating her mission involved “building an international community of action fuelled by hope is at the center of what drives Dr. Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute”.
Working days before her death
Jane Goodall took to the stage in New York city last Friday to speak about her career as well as conservation.
Two days later, she appeared on the Wall Street Journal podcast.

A statement issued tonight by the campaigner’s institute delivered the devastating news.
It read: “The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes.
“She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States. Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionised science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world[1].”
