Internet users across Pakistan faced major disruption today, with connectivity in major cities including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore slowing down or completely cut off. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and TikTok were either inaccessible or running at unusually slow speeds, leaving people frustrated.

The disruptions began earlier in the day but peaked between 7 PM and 9 PM, when complaints from users surged across different regions. Both personal and professional online activities were disrupted as people struggled with unstable connections on Google services and other essential platforms.

Telecom operators, including PTCL, Ufone, and Zong 4G, along with internet service providers like Nayatel, were also impacted.

Nayatel confirmed the issue, informing customers that the problem originated at their upstream provider’s end and promised resolution within hours. However, many subscribers argue that such slowdowns have become an almost daily occurrence.

The company said, “Your Internet service may be degraded due to an issue at our upstream provider’s end. The relevant teams are actively working to resolve the matter. ETTR is 01:15 hours.”
