WhatsApp has started rolling out its “Ask Meta AI” feature in Pakistan, allowing users to chat directly with Meta’s AI assistant without leaving their conversations. The new tool is designed to make information searches, content summaries, and quick replies easier within both private and group chats.

The update is part of WhatsApp’s broader integration of AI into messaging. Instead of switching apps or opening a separate chatbot, users can now type their queries inside a chat, and Meta AI responds in real-time. It also works with forwarded messages, photos, or videos, letting users get instant answers or context.

A key highlight is the message summary option, which privately compiles unread chats for users who may have missed long conversations. Importantly, WhatsApp clarified that only the content shared with Ask Meta AI[1] is processed by the system, while all regular chats remain end-to-end encrypted.

The feature is gradually rolling out in Pakistan, with availability differing across devices even on the same app version. Some users can see the Ask Meta AI icon right after updating WhatsApp, while others may have to wait for server-side activation.

This move marks another step in Meta’s AI expansion strategy after integrating similar tools across Facebook and Instagram, positioning WhatsApp as not just a chat app but also an AI-powered assistant for everyday communication.
