His blood alcohol content registered at nearly double the legal limit.
Trevor Rector, the son of Clearwater Mayor Bruce Rector, was arrested earlier this month for driving under the influence. His blood alcohol level registered at nearly double the legal limit, at 0.144 and 0.143.
Mayor Rector posted the $500 bond to have his son released from the Pinellas County jail Sept. 2 following the arrest the previous night, according to Clerk of Court records.
Trevor Rector is 25 years old.
He was pulled over by Clearwater Police[1] at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, which was Labor Day, for unlawful speed. According to his arrest affidavit, Trevor Rector was traveling 58 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed “strong odor of alcoholic beverages well over 6 feet.” The officer also noted in the arrest affidavit that Trevor Rector had “bloodshot, watery, and glassy” eyes and that he “performed poorly on field sobriety exercises.”
In addition to driving under the influence, officers also noted the presence of “open alcohol in plain view inside the vehicle.” He “exhibited obvious signs of impairment,” the affidavit said, and he “admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages” earlier in the evening.
Trevor Rector is being represented by J. Kevin Hayslett.
