X is set to transition to a fully AI-driven algorithm for the main feed by November 2025.
This announcement comes directly from Elon Musk and Nikita Bier, X’s Head of Product. The change aims to provide users with a more personalized and relevant feed, reducing exposure to mainstream algorithmic content and politically focused posts.
Grok Integration
According to Bier’s post, users will be able to adjust their feeds dynamically through Grok, X’s AI assistant. This feature allows users to tailor their timeline based on their interests and ensures that content aligns with individual preferences.
Open Source Algorithm
Musk and Bier confirmed that X will open-source its algorithm every two weeks. This transparency measure allows users to understand how content is curated and provide feedback for improvements. By late 2025, users will be able to prompt Grok to modify their feed in real-time.
Bier emphasized in her post, “The goal for your X timeline is to get out of the mainstream algo and the political crusades and find your niche.” She noted that accounts currently displaying irrelevant content, such as random viral videos, have not yet fully adapted, but improvements are ongoing to ensure a more relevant feed.
