Enyimba FC forward Edidiong Ezekiel has praised the presence of Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, during the club’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Bendel Insurance in Aba on Sunday.
The former Akwa United striker[1], who has represented both the Home-based Super Eagles and Nigeria’s U23 team, expressed his excitement on social media on Monday.
“Great feeling having Abia State Governor Alex Otti in the stands for Enyimba vs Bendel Insurance. The electric atmosphere and the comeback win made this memorable ,” Ezekiel wrote.
Enyimba had fallen behind early in the Nigeria Premier Football League clash, but the People’s Elephant staged a spirited fightback in front of their home fans to secure all three points and stay top of the table.
Governor Otti, who was in the stands to cheer the team, later rewarded the players with ₦30 million for their efforts — ₦10 million for each goal scored in the victory.
Ezekiel, who was part of the Enyimba matchday squad for the NPFL clash, said the governor’s presence and support gave the players extra motivation.
“It was a special day for me and the team. Having the governor with us and getting such support means a lot. It was a game to remember,” he added.
With the win, Enyimba maintained their strong start to the NPFL season as they continue their push to reclaim domestic and continental glory.
