Matt Beard, the former manager of Liverpool Women’s football team, has died at the age of 47, SportsRation reports.
His wife, Debbie, shared the sad news on social media on Saturday evening.
She wrote:
“It is with great sadness that our lovely Matthew Beard passed away tonight at 7:28pm.
“He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He was a kind and amazing man, loved by everyone who met him.”
Liverpool Football Club also released a statement, saying:
“Liverpool FC is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of former LFC Women manager Matt Beard.
“Everyone at the club is thinking of Matt’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Beard helped Liverpool Women win back-to-back Women’s Super League titles in 2013 and 2014.
He returned to the club and led the team back into the WSL in 2022 after winning promotion from the Women’s Championship.
