The Chicago Bears are placing two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson on injured reserve with a groin injury, NFL Network reported on Saturday.

Johnson would be required to miss the team’s next four games as a result of the reported move.

Last Sunday, Johnson aggravated the injury that limited him during the offseason. He left the game against the Detroit Lions after diving to break up a pass intended for Amon-Ra St. Brown. Johnson remained on the turf at Ford Field after the whistle and was helped to the sideline by team trainers.

Last week, Johnson described the severity of the injury that limited him throughout the offseason to “The Pivot” podcast, saying he tore his adductor muscle from the pelvic bone. He was on the non-football injury list in training camp and said the injury occurred while training.

Johnson, 26, has recorded 216 tackles and seven interceptions — including one returned for a touchdown — in 71 career games (all starts) since being selected by the Bears in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
