Huawei has announced the Watch Ultimate 2, the follow-up to last year’s Watch Ultimate. The new model builds on the original with improvements in durability, underwater communication, and health tracking while maintaining a familiar design.

The Watch Ultimate 2 features a zirconium-based liquid metal case, dual-tone nanocrystal ceramic bezels, and sapphire glass. Huawei has reduced the display bezels by 18% compared to the first generation, giving the device a cleaner look without compromising strength.

The smartwatch is equipped with a 1.5-inch LTPO2 AMOLED display that reaches up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The smartwatch is available in Compass Black and Ocean Blue.

One of the most significant upgrades is the 20ATM water resistance rating, certified under EN13319 and ISO 22810:2010 standards. This makes the watch capable of withstanding depths of up to 150 meters, an increase of 50 meters over its predecessor.

The Watch Ultimate 2 also introduces sonar-based communication. Divers can send preset messages and emoticons to other Watch Ultimate 2 devices within a 30-meter radius. An SOS mode extends this communication range to 60 meters, allowing divers to signal for help when needed.

Huawei has included a gap antenna system to improve connectivity in difficult environments. The smartwatch supports eSIM, dual-band GPS positioning, and BeiDou satellite messaging for users in China. On-device calling and music playback are also supported.

The device offers a battery life of up to 4.5 days during regular use, which can extend to 11 days when switched to power-saving mode.

The Watch Ultimate 2 comes with Huawei’s TruSense health system and a new X-Tap sensor that delivers quicker and more precise readings. It can monitor 11 different health metrics, including ECG, making it suitable for both everyday health monitoring and more intensive fitness tracking.

The Compass Black version is priced at €899, while the Ocean Blue edition costs €999.
