The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a team of referees from Mauritania to handle the upcoming CAF Champions League match between Rivers United of Nigeria and FC Les Aigles du Congo.
The match is the first leg of the first round and will be played on Saturday, 20 September at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, DR Congo. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m. local time, which is the same as Nigerian time.
Moussa Diou will be the centre referee, with help from Kalidou Ba (Assistant Referee 1) and Adberrahmane Anne (Assistant Referee 2). The fourth official will be Dahane Beida. CAF has also named Antonio Esono Maquina Bindang from Equatorial Guinea as the match commissioner.
This match is part of the CAF Champions League qualifying round, which is played over two legs (home and away).
According to CAF rules:
-
If the scores are level on aggregate after both legs, the away goals rule will be used.
-
If it is still a draw, the match will go straight to penalties — no extra time will be played.
The winners of the 2025 CAF Champions League will automatically qualify for major international events:
-
The 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup
-
The 2029 expanded FIFA Club World Cup
-
The 2026 CAF Super Cup, where they will face the winners of the CAF Confederation Cup.
